Competition in Indonesia's automotive industry intensified throughout the first half of 2026. According to the latest data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) for the first semester of 2026, national car sales trends showed positive growth. However, the most notable development was a major shift among the top five market leaders.

Toyota proved to be an unstoppable force, successfully maintaining its position as the dominant player on Indonesian roads. Meanwhile, a major surprise came from the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD, which managed to break into the top five, displacing the long-established player Honda.

2. DAIHATSU – 73,545 units
3. SUZUKI – 36,319 units
4. MITSUBISHI MOTORS – 32,588 units
