Based on data from the 2024 National Socio-Economic Survey of Socio-Cultural and Education Modules (Susenas MSBP) in the BPS report entitled Education Support Statistics 2024, in the 2023/2024 academic year (FY), the average total cost of education at the high school / vocational / equivalent level reached Rp10.19 million per student. This figure increased by 30.64% when compared to the 2020/2021 school year which amounted to IDR 7.8 million.

Based on the region, Papua is the province with the highest average cost of high school / vocational / equivalent education in Indonesia. Noted, the cost of education in the province reached IDR 17.91 million in FY 2023/2024. The following is a list of 8 provinces with the highest average cost of high school education in Indonesia:

  1. Papua - 17.91 Million Rupiah
  2. South Sumatra - 14.6 Million Rupiah
  3. Jakarta - 14.41 Million Rupiah
  4. West Papua - 111 Million Rupiah
  5. DI Yogyakarta - 13.96 Million Rupiah
  6. Banten - 13.43 Million Rupiah
  7. Bengkulu - 12.27 Million Rupiah
  8. North Sulawesi - 11.75 Million Rupiah
